How to Use Azurri Blue Satin® of Sharon Tree Form in the Landscape

Add these gorgeous small, flowering trees as "Thrillers" in outdoor containers, or in the ground. You might be surprised what a good screen the lavish canopy becomes.

No yard? No problem. Use a container on your balcony, positioned to block any unsightly view with an outstanding tropical-looking focal point.

Plant a series of them in your patio planting bed for a delightful feature. Space them four to eight feet apart on center, depending on the look you are going for.

Expand the spacing to see a set of individual trees. Go closer together if you want their canopies to grow together and touch. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.

Plant them near entrances for a stunning welcome. Your guests will be amazed by the deep blue blooms.

Start conversations with a single tree at the corner of your foundation planting. Or, plant a pair as sentries flanking either side of your outdoor entertainment area.

They'll look amazing anywhere you have a sunny spot, and can be easily added to perennial borders and mixed beds. Let your creativity come out...you'll be inspired by these unusually pretty blue blooms.

#ProPlantTips for Care

Plant in full sun to enjoy the brightest color, and the most flowers. They need at least six hours of direct sunlight. The more sun, the better!

Provide well-drained soil. If needed, plant in a raised bed,or container. You can also add a heaped mound of soil 18 inches high by three feet wide for planting.

Cover the soil with a three-inch layer of mulch, leaving a few inches of space next to the trunk. If you like, add a landscape border to create a stylish raised garden bed.

Provide a medium amount of water on a regular basis. Container plants will need plenty of water. Research automated drip irrigation systems, they are a breeze to install. It's so worth it!

Early each spring, make sure to set aside some time to prune your tree form, don't worry, it's pretty easy!

Simply grab your favorite pruning shears and reduce the overall size to a two to three foot sphere. If you have an older, larger, tree feel free to only reduce the size to a three to four foot sphere to preserve a little height.

We do recommend making sure to get this pruning done very early in the spring. That way you won't damage any of the new growth and have maximum flower power!

Apply a controlled release fertilizer in early spring. Please follow the application rates on the label directions.

Although this improved cultivar of Blue Satin Hibiscus is considered "Deer Resistant", we always recommend you spray repellent regularly. Deer are curious, and can get so hungry. Train them to leave your special Azzuri alone by reapplying, according to directions.

Don't let another summer go by without adding a serious splash of cool color. Order Azzuri Blue Satin Rose of Sharon tree form today!
