Home gardeners should take a good look at this excellent variety. Flamekist Nectarine (Prunus persica 'Flamekist') is one of the favorites for a great-tasting, productive backyard tree.

Flamekist scores very well on taste tests. It is vigorous, reliable and easy to grow if shown proper care.

You'll love the sweet yellow flesh. It's firm, yet has a nice, smooth texture! The fruit is attractive with "fuzz-free" yellow skin and a light red blush.

The tree delivers an ornamental, fragrant display of pink flowers in springtime. And because the rounded fruit is large, you'll have a showy fruiting display, as well.

It's self-pollinating, so you can get a crop with just a single tree. But...if you love Nectarines, why not add an early ripening and a mid-season tree for several months of fresh fruit?

Edible landscaping is all the rage right now, and this is no fad. People across the country are putting in Victory Gardens and turning to "Edible Ornamentals" in their landscape design.

Add these trusted, delicious fruiting trees to your yard this season. Flamekist is a wonderful choice that is very popular for the backyard orchard.

Just please...hurry to place your order of Flamekist Nectarine. You wouldn't believe how fast we'll sell out of this year's crop.

How to Use Flamekist Nectarine Tree in the Landscape

Although this tree is self-pollinating, and will produce fruit from a single tree, you'll have a much larger harvest with two stone fruit varieties. Or, plant with a partner Nectarine tree.

It's kind of funny, it's almost like self-pollinating fruiting trees want a friend, too.

And we'll let you in on a little secret. You can keep fruit trees to any size with summer pruning for size control.

You can grow 3 trees in 1 hole. Or even...4 trees in 1 hole.

If you have a sunny spot 15 feet wide, you can have a Peach tree, a Nectarine tree, a Pluot tree and a Plum. High density planting is a real technique perfected over the last 30 years, and it's wonderful for backyard fruit enthusiasts.

Check out our blog or YouTube channel to learn tips and tricks. Just don't be surprised if you suddenly wake up with a yard full of fruiting trees and a cool new hobby!

Grow them as a single tree with multiple trunks. Or, plant them in a row 5 feet apart to create a special hedgerow planting. You'll also add a useful privacy screen with this style of high-density planting.

Flamekist Nectarine is one of the best choices you could make to boost the "food security" of your family. How awesome to walk outside and pick a healthy breakfast or snack.

#ProPlantTips for Care

At least 6 hours of direct sunlight will keep Flamekist Nectarines producing fruit once it reaches maturity. The more sun, the better! Morning sun is especially helpful, as it dries the foliage from any overnight dew.

If your soil is well-drained, go ahead and plant without much amending. However, if you have poorly drained soil that holds water for a long time, create a planting mound or raised bed. Add soil in a mound 12 to 18 inches tall by 3 feet wide.

Provide Flamekist a moderate amount of water on a regular basis, and especially during fruit development. Apply 3 inches of mulch over the top of the root system. This will help cut down on surface evaporation and even save on water costs.

Flamekist is notorious in a good way for not needing much pruning. If you need to open the canopy and shape up the center of the tree, prune in late winter.

If you want to keep the tree smaller, tip prune about a third of the growth from the branches in summer time.

You'll also want to thin out early fruit set to a single piece of fruit every 6 inches. We know, this can be hard (the baby fruit is so cute!), but you'll have a much larger mature harvest with early thinning.

You'll just love the taste of home-grown Flamekist Nectarines. Enjoy them fresh, or try your hand at drying, cooking, preserves or canning. This is a wonderful choice, order yours today!
