Osmanthus heterophyllus 'Goshiki', also called False Holly, is truly a beautiful accent plant that is also extremely tough and durable with remarkable variegated leaves.
Goshiki means 'five colored' in Japanese and refers to the various colors found on each leaf. The leaves will show off five colors; cream, pink, orange, yellow, and white appear in attractive spots or swirls that combine together to create an eye-catching display!
Use Goshiki to brighten up a shady corner or for a colorful informal hedge. It can also be kept in a large container for many years.
Because of the bright year-round color and easy cultivation, Goshiki makes a great choice for landscapes in the colder climates.
But select a location that provides an area with some sort of winter protection against cold wintry winds for cooler locations. Mulching is strongly recommended.
Shear this plant annually to keep a neat appearance or to maintain desired shape of size. Pruning time is best done in the spring.
