Some plants are superstars. Cheyenne Spirit Coneflower (Echinacea x 'Cheyenne Spirit') will become a showy standout in your garden design, no matter where you use it.

Each plant will develop beautiful, coordinating blooms in a wide color range. Enjoy bold flowers in rich shades from scarlet to tomato red. You'll see purple tones next to lighter rose-pink. Bright orange-yellow, golden-yellow and creamy white act as "punctuation" to brighten the display.

The blooms also feature a range of forms. Look closely and you'll see blooms with wide petals, some that are narrow, quilled and even rolled.

Perhaps these are subtle differences, but the overall effect will really enhance the charm of this very special plant.

Cheyenne Spirit is a selection that gives you an amazing amount of visual interest. You'll have free-flowering blooms from mid-summer through frost. That's months of color!

This is an expertly grown, natural hybrid of our native Coneflowers. Grow them in containers, cutting gardens, rock gardens, in perennial borders, or massed together for maximum impact.

Use three or more of these perennial plants together in a loose triangle. The more, the merrier!

You'll create a very special garden feature with ever-changing color for you to enjoy. Cheyenne Spirit provides a plentiful nectar source for honeybees and butterflies. Best of all? Nothing could be easier.

These low-maintenance plants develop multiple branches for a lush, bushy look. They'll thrive in hot, sunny spots across most of the United States.

Give them a little afternoon shade in the warmest Zones. Once their long, Prairie roots are well-established in your soil, they'll become waterwise.

Our native Echinacea does well in most of the country with very little care. Tough, vigorous Coneflowers tolerate even "rookie" gardeners. We can't think of a nicer housewarming present!

How to Use Cheyenne Spirit Coneflower in the Landscape

Use these in a sunny spot near your front door and get ready for compliments. Add as a "Thriller" to exterior containers, or grow them in the ground.

Create a grand entrance with a narrow planting bed running the length of your front walk. Space these 12 inches apart in a zigzagging planting pattern. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next.

This kind of mass planting just gets better and better year after year. The rich mixed tones of Cheyenne Spirit Coneflower makes people happy.

Expand the appeal with a larger planting by adding more plants in additional rows. Use mulch between plants and keep new beds weeded.

Repeat the use of Cheyenne Spirit in an established garden border. It partners beautifully with other Prairie-style perennials.

For a very modern take on a classic design, line a rectangular planting bed with Boxwood. Fill the center with Cheyenne Spirit, instead of the traditional annual bedding plants or Roses.

Use them in big half-whiskey barrels flanking either side of your garden gate. Run them all along a terraced outdoor entertainment area.

Plant them next to Ornamental Grasses as a perfect complement. Use them to soften the look of a large boulder.

Plant them in a cheery ring around your mailbox. Include them in a grouped series of pots on your balcony or deck.

Whichever way you choose to use them, you'll feel good about including these perennials in your landscape. Butterflies, hummingbirds, honeybees and songbirds appreciate them as a nectar and food source.

Be sure to leave the spent flowers standing at the end of the season. The dried seed heads will catch light, fluffy snow in wintertime. It looks great, and local birds will get to peck at the seeds.

#ProPlantTips for Care

When your Cheyenne Spirit Coneflowers are "babies", you'll want to pay close attention to watering. It won't take long before they are well-established in your yard.

After that, they'll need very little care. Give them at least 6 hours of sunlight a day, and ensure your soil is well-drained.

Use a raised bed, or grow them in containers if you have poorly drained soil that retains water for a long time.

Add supplemental water during long periods of drought, or extremely hot weather. Yes, these are rugged plants. But...you'll get more blooms over the growing season with a regular schedule of medium water.

Cut the blooms after they are fully open. Use them in lovely flower arrangements indoors. This is a great way to deadhead your plants. You'll encourage a new flush of blooms, and decorate your home at the same time.

Remove spent flowers regularly. In early spring, snip the dried stalks to an inch above ground level.

Top dress with a bit of compost at the same time. Add mulch regularly to improve the health of your soil over time.
