Blue is in all fall long with the Bluecrop Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum 'Bluecrop'). Known throughout the world as one of the most productive and flavorful varieties, this lovely plant produces fantastic, plump blueberries that are sure to please your palate.

Gardeners across North America admire this disease resistant variety, not just because it's easy to grow, but because it consistently yields high-quality large berries for salad, pies, and jams! In fact, it is the most widely grown blueberry variety in the United States.

Cold hardiness makes growers in Zone 4 happy. And the drought tolerance is also appreciated by the Western and Southern growers of Zones 8 and 9.

This pretty plant produces white bell-shaped flowers in May. These petite, waxy blossoms announce that blueberries are soon to follow. These fresh little berries take about two to three months to mature but should be ripe once August arrives.

Bluecrop was quickly recognized as being very productive with a very large berry. The firm, slightly aromatic and wonderfully sweet fruit was an instant hit with commercial growers and home gardeners alike. A long harvest period lasting up to 2 weeks in the mid-season was also attractive to the home gardener.

This stately shrub grows upright with open branches and lance-shaped leaves. It makes an excellent border and can add some character to a shrub garden with its ornamental flair.

When winter comes around, the Bluecrop Blueberry will continue to add beauty to your garden with vivid and rich red foliage. After your Bluecrop has been established, it's time to consider pruning. We recommend that you prune your Bluecrop late in its third winter.

Plant your prolific Bluecrop Blueberry in well-drained, wet or medium moisture soil. You'll want to water it frequently since its shallow fibrous roots need lots of moisture. For best results, make sure your Bluecrop gets full sun or partial shade and soil rich with organic nutrients or a quality organic mulch.

Bluecrop requires a pH of 5.5 or lower along with regular application of acid fertilizer to reach its true potential. Grow Bluecrop in the ground in zones 4 through 7 in full sun. In zones 8 and 9 where Bluecrop will do fine, it is best to grow them in containers where the pH of the soil is more easily maintained. In the hotter dryer climates Bluecrop can be successfully grown with protection from the hot afternoon sun.
