It's easy to fall in love with this special variety. One of the latest "designer fruiting trees", Spice Zee NectaPlum (Prunus x 'Spice Zee') is a white-fleshed nectarine peach plum. Quite a mouthful, isn't it?

The delicious fruit displays both Nectarine and Plum traits. These flavorful stone fruits are enhanced by the Peach parent, which gives it a very colorful personality in the landscape.

Use this good-looking tree front and center in your landscape design. You'll love the bright red leaves and incredible purple and pink blossoms in springtime.

Spice Zee NectaPlum was originally introduced by the genius hybridizers at Zaiger Genetics using careful hand-pollination. It's a natural cross that is the result of careful cross-pollination of related trees.

The taste is out of this world. You've literally never tasted a fruit quite like Spice Zee. It's the world's first NectaPlum!

It is consistently rated a very high-scoring piece of fruit in taste tests. Of course, Spice Zee develops its richest flavor when it is homegrown and picked at the peak of ripeness.

You've got to try the special flavor!

The fruit set comes on with a dark, maroon-red skin. As the fruit develops, it becomes a pale pink when it's fully ripe.

What could be an easier indication that your harvest is ready to pick?

The white flesh shows off its Peach parent in the red streaks near the pit. It has smooth Nectarine skin. And just the right zippy Plum to fully bring out the fruit sugars.

This high quality of this taste experience demands that you grow your own. Of course, with a tree this ornamental, it's easy to make the decision to go with Spice Zee NectaPlum.

You'll only need a single tree for plenty of fresh eating, as it is a self-pollinating variety. Of course, for larger yields, we always recommend you include a partner tree. Add two of them, or plant with a partner Nectarine tree for the biggest production.

This productive and beautiful tree deserves a sunny, high-traffic area in your yard. You will want to appreciate the beauty all season long.

How to Use Spice Zee NectaPlum™ in the Landscape

You'll want to find a nice, sunny spot where you'll be able to study this beautiful "Edible Ornamental" tree. How about in a mulched bed in the front lawn where you'll see it from the picture window?

Or anchor your foundation planting with a specimen planted 20 feet from the corner of your house. Perk up your tired, old-fashioned facade with a modern, edible landscape.

No need to fret about the neighbors. They'll get busy adding Blueberry bushes for spectacular fall color in their own landscape soon enough.

Edible landscaping is a garden trend that is only picking up steam. Spice Zee NectaPlum makes it so easy to jump in!

It starts with the jaw-dropping purplish pink springtime flower display, and moves right along to the long, red new leaves. The baby fruit is ruby-red, and is so fun to watch.

Use this upright, compact tree as a privacy screen, or a small shade tree. Get the most from your plants, your sunshine and land.

You'll have a bounty of delicious fruit to share with family and friends in just a few short years. Create sweet sauces for pork, duck and chicken. Replace peaches with "NectaPlums" in pies and preserves. Dry them to savor the taste of summer later in the year.

If you have the room, add two or more. Plant them 20 feet apart and allow them to grow to their full height and spread. Add them to your property line in a classic orchard planting.

Or, plant them in a 3-in-1 hole with an early season Nectarine and a late season Peach. You'll prune this high-density planting in summertime to create a single tree with three trunks.

Keep them small and manageable with size control pruning each summer. Decide how high and wide you want them, and hold them at that size.

#ProPlantTips for Care

Plant in full sun where it receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. It's always best to select an area that receives the drying power of the morning sun. You'll keep your fruit trees healthy with sunlight!

They can't tolerate standing water, so make sure the site you select has well-drained soil. It adapts to just about any soil type, as long as it is well-drained.

If you have terrible drainage, bring in additional soil and create a planting mound 12 to 18 inches tall by 3 feet wide. Add a decorative border as a raised bed.

Spice Zee is a great choice for mild climates. It enjoys lots of good air circulation, so make sure the planting site isn't a low-lying "trap" for air.

Plan to supply a regular schedule of water. This is critical during the first year in your landscape. Add supplemental water during fruit development every year.

Wood mulch helps keep the root system nice and cool. Add a three-inch layer each spring, but pull back 6 inches from the trunk.

It will appreciate an all-purpose fertilizer in early spring as the new growth starts. There are Orchard Sprays for fruiting trees, including organic formulas. Always apply according to the directions on the label.

Prune in late winter to maintain a vase-shape canopy with scaffolding branches at a 45 degree angle. Remove branches that cross or shade others, or grow into the interior of the canopy. Your goal is to work to increase sunlight and air circulation in the canopy.

This productive variety will need to thinning early in the fruiting season. Keep 4 inches of space between fruits for the best results come harvest time.

We know, it's hard to thin those cute little fruits. If you take care to compost the thinned fruits, it's an easier task. Owning a fruit tree is a wonderful way to fully appreciate the cycle of life.

Place your order for Spice Zee NectaPlum tree. It's destined to become a superstar in your landscape.
