One of the sweetest varieties grown in backyard orchards, the Honey Kist® Nectarine (Prunus 'Honey Kist') can be enjoyed even before fully ripe. You'll get a bountiful harvest to enjoy over a long period of time.

With a fantastic, sweet flavor, these nectarines are categorized as "sub-acid". Without that tangy, tartly acidic aftertaste, even picky kids will flock to these healthy, sugary fruits.

Start harvesting them even before they are fully soft. In fact, we dare you to keep your hands off them!

Even after they are ripe, they'll hang on the tree for a week or two. You won't need to convince anyone to come help you harvest.

Use them in a million ways, including as a topping for ice cream, muddled in specialty cocktails, added to smoothies, in your lunchbox, you name it. Enjoy the mild, sweet flavor and great presentation from the snappy red skin.

The firm, almost meaty texture stands up to baking. No need to add extra refined sugar.

These pretty nectarines are almost fully red over a background of yellow. They have a shallow, yet defined suture line, and look incredible ripening on the tree. The fruit is remarkably uniform in size across the tree.

Even the trees are attractive! Big, gorgeous, showy pink flowers cover the branches in spring. The ruby-red mature fruit really pops against the large, mid-tone green leaves.

They are vigorous with an upright form. With a dense canopy, you might even get some bonus privacy screening from your tree.

Use these as "Edible Ornamentals" and join the millions of other homeowners who are installing fruiting trees on their property. You'll gain food security and a spectacular specimen tree!

Although this tree is self-pollinating, and will produce fruit from a single tree, you'll have a much larger harvest with two. Or, plant with a partner Nectarine tree for the most production.

How to Use Honey Kist® Nectarine Tree in the Landscape

You'll love these small trees and having fresh fruit on hand. Even if you only have room for one, you'll be able to savor the sweet taste.

Add two or more if you have the room. Create a beautiful informal grouping of three trees as a hard-working focal point. Or, use one at the corner of your house to anchor your foundation planting.

Give them 10 - 15 feet apart and allow them to grow to their full height and spread. Or, plant them 5 feet apart in a hedgerow along your fence line. Measure from the trunk of one to the trunk of the next.

No matter how you use it, you'll be glad to increase food security and make the most of your sunshine!

#ProPlantTips for Care

Plant Nectarines in full sun for the best results. Nectarines require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight, and morning sunlight will help keep your trees healthy.

Plant in well-drained soil. If you need to improve drainage, elevate your planting by adding soil in a mound 12 to 18 inches tall by 3 feet wide. Elevated planting enables the roots to access plenty of oxygen.

Give your trees a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. Apply a thick layer of mulch over the root system to cut down on surface evaporation and save on water costs.

In late winter, open up the interior of the tree by removing crossing branches. Your goal is to increase the sunlight and air circulation blowing throughout the canopy.

Choose to allow the tree to grow to its full spread and height, or plan on an annual summer pruning for size control. You'll prune out one-third of the new season's growth.

Experts suggest keeping fruit trees 8 feet and under for a manageable harvest. It doesn't take long, and the results are well worth it.
