Add edible nut trees to your property as a wonderful investment. You'll gain protein-rich, nutrient dense edible nuts and a lumber resource.

One of the best options is the excellent French variety, Franquette English Walnut (Juglans regia 'Franquette'). This tree comes out of winter dormancy later in the spring, which protects your crop from late spring frost damage.

It is widely grown for that reason in areas that are susceptible to spring frosts.

Franquette is one of the most widely planted English Walnuts for commercial production. It produces delicious, sealed, thin-shelled nuts that are easy to harvest and process.

This special Walnut variety works well in home landscapes, as well. Consider it for "double duty" as both an edible crop and a lovely, large shade tree.

Although they can be self fertile, to ensure a good crop, plant with another variety like Manregion. Excellent quality nuts are produced in clusters of 2 or 3 on the branch tips. They ripen later in October.

Magnificent English Walnut trees add a grand feature to your landscape, with their symmetrical, oval canopies and a broad branch structure. Wide, attractive leaves with prominent midrib bring a distinctive look to the landscape.

How to Use Franquette English Walnut in the Landscape

Increase your food security and make your sunshine work hard to support your family. It's easy enough to add Franquette English Walnut as an investment tree.

Although it will partially self-pollinate, you'll enjoy the best crops with another variety nearby. Plant a small group of 2 or 3 plants in open, sunny, well-drained areas. Try a loose, isosceles triangle for a natural grove, varying the planting distance from 20 to 30 feet.

#ProPlantTips with Care

These easy-care trees are rugged and won't require much care. Plant your trees in full sun for best results. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day.

The planting site needs well-drained soil.Plant on a hill, or create a raised bed to improve soil drainage. Mound additional soil up to 18 inches high by 3 feet wide. Plant directly in that mound.

For the first season, pay careful attention to watering. Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. After the tree is established in your soil, it requires less supplemental watering.

Apply a thick layer of mulch around the trunk, but don't let it touch the bark. Keep the root system cool and slowly improve the quality of your soil with mulch.

Our growers do a terrific job with these special trees. Order Franquette English Walnut today!
