This plant makes it easy to try your hand at topiary, or other formal pruning techniques; or you can choose to let your hedge grow naturally into a lovely screen. Bedecked with thick, glossy oval leaves; striking fragrant white flower racemes inspire in early spring, then develop into dark fruit that is adored by birds.

Useful as a windbreak to protect against strong sea breezes, or to help hide a messy neighbor - this lovely backdrop that requires little care. Softer in appearance than other hedges, Cherry Laurel has been used worldwide since the Middle Ages. Colonials in the fledgling United States used it to edge property borders under tough growing conditions.

You'll appreciate the fast growth. They do prefer well-drained soil but can handle more partial shade than most broadleaved evergreens. They also tolerate salt spray, so can be used on the Coast or along highways or busy streets.
