Canby Raspberry

Canby Rasberry (Rubus idaeus 'Canby Red') is a vivid variety that bears fruit in summertime on second year growth. Luscious red berries ripen in summer.

This is a self-pollinating variety, so you can plant it by itself if you must. But we bet you'll want to consider adding a second plant that bears fruit in fall to continue the harvest.

Prep your site in full sun or partial shade with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Be sure you can reach it with the garden hose, as raspberries can dry out quickly. A pro tip? Plant it in a slight "well" or depression that will capture water. Not too deep!

Watch for the ripening berries, and harvest as soon as they redden and pluck cleanly from the cane. You'll have to move quick to beat the birds or use netting to protect your investment.
