How to Use Blushing Delight™ and Golden Treat™ Columnar Urban® Apple Trees in the Landscape

Make a real statement with one of these trees flanking either side of your front entrance. Add a row of gorgeous Cabernet Splash Blueberries as a thoroughly up-to-date foundation planting.

Use these trees to define the entrance to your outdoor dining room. Your guests will be begging to pluck their own piece of fruit. Serve them sliced with artisan cheese and a drizzle of local honey.

Create a hard-working hedgerow by alternating the varieties 5 feet apart on center. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. Order 2 or 3 sets to create a very effective privacy screen "with benefits".

#ProPlantTips for Care

All Apple trees need full sun to produce fruit. Give them at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day, and ensure they'll receive a good amount of air circulation. Pull them out away from buildings.

Provide a medium amount of water on a regular basis. This is especially important if you are keeping your trees in containers, or during periods of drought and as the fruit is developing.

Apples need well-drained soil. If you need to improve drainage, create a raised garden bed to plant in. Mound up soil to 18 inches high and 3 feet wide. Plant in that mound.

Mulch your Apple trees with a three-inch layer over the root system. Pull the mulch back several inches all around the trunk. Please don't let mulch touch the main trunk!

Lightly prune after flowering to correct the shape, if needed. If you have a very heavy harvest one year, thin your fruit to one piece per every four inches.
