Give your Apricot trees at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. They thrive in full sun locations, especially if you can choose a spot that receives the drying power of the morning sun.

Well-drained soil is a must. Improve your drainage by creating a mounded heap of soil 3 feet wide to a depth of 12 to 18 inches above your soil line. You can also plant in a raised bed.

Give a thick layer of mulch over the root system. Apply at least 3 to 4 inches of mulch, and spread it out 3 feet from the outside of the canopy.
