Persistent Pink Pearls Provides Provender

The Coral Berry Amethyst™, Symphoricarpos x doorenbosii 'Kordes', a Proven Winners selection, produces deep purple-pink fruit that is bright and showy.

Amethyst™ Coral Berry displays a tidy, branching habit in full or part sun. It provides interest for the home garden by providing vivid pink fruit in late-summer.

The small white midsummer flowers produce hot pink berries in late summer. For a neat winter decoration, use the berry-laden winter stems for indoor floral arrangements.

This Coral Berry is deer resistant. but it is an important wildlife plant. Songbirds, ground birds, small mammals and browsers use the plant for food, cover, and nesting.

The Amethyst™ is very tolerant of any soil, native on limestone and clay but the location needs to be well-drained. The plant requires medium moisture.

Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs. You get best results if pruned in late fall or early spring.
